Monday

Start as you mean to go on…

We start the week with a lovely loop over the Cormet de Roselend (cat.1) and the gorgeous Col du Pré (cat.1). Don’t miss the breathtaking view of the Barrage de Roselend reservoir and the ride across the dam.

Tuesday

Italian Fury

Today we cross over into Italy via the long Col du Petit Saint-Bernard and its famous 11th century Hospice at the summit. On the way back we tackle the steep Colle San Carlo (H.C.) from the Aosta Valley.

Wednesday

Easy does it

A slightly easier day to recuperate in the middle of the week. But don’t be fooled, this ride has plenty of attractions. The Col du Tra (cat.2) might not be well known but has the best descent of the French Alps. And make sure you enjoy the gorgeous little climb from Aime to Granier (cat.2), continuing onto the beautiful mountain villages of Valezan and Les Chapelles

Thursday

The Beast

The Col de la Loze (H.C.) is a climb like no other. The last 7 km are very steep and car free, a unique experience, not to be missed. We take a car transfer to Moûtiers in the morning and tackle the beast starting from there.

Friday

The top of Europe

Only one climb on the menu today but it is the highest paved pass in Europe, the Col de l’Iséran (H.C.). Rugged alpine beauty at its absolute best.

Frequently Asked Questions

Doing all 5 full rides requires a good level of fitness. We feel you need to have a few 1.000 kms of training in the legs to be able to complete them. However, the rides are conceived in a way that there are several options to take a shortcut on the way. So feel free to start with us in the morning, see how you go and take a shortcut if you feel the full ride would be too hard. By the way, we also have an extra loop in each ride if you want an even bigger challenge.

We allow everyone to ride their own pace on the climbs. We wait on the top and ride on as a group until the start of the next climb. So we arrive together each day.

On 4 of the 5 days we provide a support vehicle. Wednesdays ride is relatively short and easy so doesn’t require extra assistance. You can give your back pack to the support vehicle so you can access it when you need it. In case of mechanical failure the support vehicle will try to provide a repair or in the worst case you can jump in and watch the others complete the ride from the comfort of the passenger seat.

We stop for lunch round midday every day. The cost of the lunch is not included in the price. Details of the restaurants and where they fall in the route can be found in our briefing pack. There is no other feed stop on the way but you can take your back pack out of the support vehicle so you can refill with your own choice of sports nutrition.

We have a back-up plan for each day if some of the passes would be closed due to bad weather. In case of cancellation due to extreme weather (thunderstorms, snowfall) you will be refunded for that day.

You can enroll for as many days as you like. There is no obligation to join all 5 days.

The briefing pack of all 5 rides is available on request. Drop us a line on AlpandBike@gmail.com or via the Contact module to enquire about this purchase.

We speak English, French, Dutch, Italian and a bit of German.

We only do paved roads so a road bike is preferable. Make sure you have small enough gears. We recommend a smallest gear not above 36/32. (We ride 34/34 ourselves). Please also ensure your brakes are functioning properly.

For bike rentals we refer you to our partner Precision Ski & Bike, 43, Place de la Gare, Bourg Saint Maurice.

Group size varies depending on demand but there is a cap at 25 riders. Please book in time to ensure availability.

We organize a transfer with our partner CoolBus. This costs 20€. Obviously you can also make your own arrangements to get there. We leave from the Square de la Liberté in Moûtiers at 9.30h.

You can contact us by using the form below, sending an email to AlpandBike@gmail.com or calling +33 7 50 01 31 60. Please indicate which dates you wish to book and how many people will join. We will give you feedback as soon as possible and send you a payment request. If you contact us within 7 days of the ride date, you will need to pay on departure.

For practical reasons, we do put a limit on the number of participants. You can contact us to check availability until the morning of the ride. If there is space available we will be happy to accommodate you.
